In his room - an empty bed

In our home - an empty chair

At the table - an empty place

In my heart - an empty feeling

In my life - a loneliness

In my emotions - a longing

In my eyes - a sadness

In my mind - precious memories

In my sight - many photographs

The Parent's pride - their uniformed child

Whose life was sacrificed

For our beloved country.

In my soul - Divine hope

In my spirit - God's peace

In my hands - caring opportunities

In my will - determination to serve

In my love - abundance to share

In my attitude - thankfulness

In my sorrow - compassion

In my future - reunion

In my emptiness - God's comfort!
